drag rims and balancing them?
I know this might sound like a dumb question but i'ma ask it anyway. Are yalls drag rims balanced? I could see why you wouldn't want to( it would suck for a weight to come off going down the track and have someone else run over it) So what are yall doing?

You are definitely going to want to balance your wheels/tires. Slicks and/or sticky tires can sometime be pretty far out of balance, expecially bias-ply's. The Pro's use the stick-on weights and then put a piece of racer's tape (300mph duct tape
) over it to help keep it on the wheel.

You can use either the stick on weights or the bead hook types. I balance mine statically so that the weights are only on the inside. Whichever way you choose be sure they are secured, stickon ones should be taped over.
Static balance is used for drag tires/rims. Weight is only put on in one location and should be in the center of the rims (stick on weights) The weights are then covered with duct tape to prevent them from coming off. I get 2 years life out of a set of slicks and have never had the tape or weights come off.
Street tires are usually dynamic balanced. That's when regular bead type weights are used and they are installed on both sides of the rim if required.
