Drag radials

I hear i should get a set of drag radials. How much can i lower my ET by with a set? I am running a consistant 13.2 now with the mods below? I am trapping 108-110, but my 60" is still a 2.1 i can not get it lower. At what rpm should i launch at?

Re: Drag radials

If you can cut your sixty foot by just .2.... That translates into even more at the far end of the track. Launching effectively often involves more than just a launch point... The launch rpms need to matched to the surface of the track as well. A great track will hold more than a crappy track.

Look into Nittos, BFG's, and Mickey Thompsons as they all seem to be popular. From what little I know the Nitto's work ok and seem to have the longest life. The BFG's work better than the Nitto's but don't last as long and the tread depth is less at the start. The Mickey Thompsons hook like a ***** and have a very soft compound but you can get back and forth to the track on them... Unless it rains......

Re: Drag radials

M6 cars are notorious for breaking rears especially when changing to 3.73 or numerically higher gears. The less teeth on the pinion gear seems to make it more prone to breakage. Sure there are some who run fast M6 cars with 10 bolts, but they are not the norm..If you are looking to really improve your 60's you may want to start saving for a 9" or 12 bolt...

As far as Drag Radials are concerned I was a die hard BFG DR fan for 9 years...I just switched to the 255 50 R16 M/T ET Radials and I am totally blown away by the 60's I just got with them 1.55-1.57!!! with 16x8s all around (no skinnies) both sway bars, stock springs/stock Decarbon shocks, and off the shelf bolt on suspension parts...If you want to hook and do it somewhat inexpensively, try a set of stock 16x8s and the 255 50 16 M/Ts, BUT you may want to start pricing rears...Whats amazing is that they are not wearing nearly as bad as I thought, no worse than my BFGs...
