better launches
better launches
what can I do for better launches??? car details in sig.. stock 3:23 rear. (mod-wise)
thanks guys....
I kept getting 14.3 and i definitely think the car should be at LEAST in the high 13's.... for the time being haha.
But I did notice that the launch wasn't the strongest...
when i tried powerbraking at only 1500rpm... i spun halfway down the track and got 15.3 (I have brand new tires, and i had them pretty hot)

with street tires its not a good idea to do a burnout in the water because water gets in the tread and when you get to the line it runs back down and gets the surface wet which causes it to spin. I found 1.9s on Kuhmos by just rolling around the water and turning the tires over in a roll just to clean them off. I never messed with my psi but thats because i have 17s on my car and there really is no side wall to give any. just my .02. good luck man
Last year with stock everything (2.73 gears) except an SLP CAI, I constantly ran 14.2s so much, I was thinking of getting the decals for the side windows so I wouldn't have to deal with the shoe polish. I lowered the stock 16x8 tires to around 24 -26 psi depending on how I screwed up one tire and had to get the others to match.
But then these were stock 16s. I also have a manual SLP fan switch to run the fans in the staging lanes so the car did the same thing over and over and over. The only way I could mess up the 14.2 was by giving too much pedal at the start, resulting in wheel spin, thus a bad 60'...
Unfortunately now, I just change the gears to 3.42s and then Madwolf just sent me a newly edited PCM (
) so my 60' may be whacked for awhile until I can get back the feel of getting the car to jump off the line at somewhere between 1/2 to a 3/4 gas pedal before flooring it. Not too much on power braking because all I would get was tire spin. Especially anything higher than 1.5s. Otherwise it will be "Fast and Furious" at the start line, all noise and smoke and no go....
So bottom line for me; less power brake, ease into the gas pedal to move a dozen feet before flooring it.

justen. well the wheels i have now, i also had on my 93 M6... Off the line you sorta have to feather the gas for a second until you feel some traction and THEN floor it... you have to feel it but it happens very quick.. it takes practice.....
a lot of people think that starting off in second is a good Idea, don't listen to them... it just takes practice.
I have my rear tire pressure at 30psi.... what should I lower it down to with my 275/40/zr17's?
AND the first couple of runs, I had GREAT traction i just wasn't thrown back in my seat off the line... not until i felt it chirp second, then I was like 'yyyyeah buddy'. runs like a ****, i just need a snappier start.... my reaction times were a consistent 0.483
yeah i always go around the water....
