Bad driver

I had the car at the track today for the first time. Havent run a 6 spd camaro in almost 2 years , but i just put this car together and wanted to see what it would do. I had a hell of a time gettin a good launch. 2.6 60 foot and went 12.8 @115. slippin the clutch way too much i guess.. Next run, i slipped the clutch too much again and managed another pathetic 2.05 60 foot AND missed 5th ...(WHAAAT) Only went through at 103 mph. Et was 12.42 .

Car is a M6 1995 z28 w/ 4:10's, a mild forged 355 (stock heads and such) and seeing 5psi boost from an S trim. 17 inch Bfg drag radials also.

Think i should be cuttin 1.8's or better ? You guys think this car will go 11's with better 60 foot times?

Thanks, Will

I don't know if you will get 11's I mean any thing can happen but 12.8 to 11.99 is a big jump. I would say get out there and get some more practice try and drop that 60 foot done. You have alot of room to improve. If you work at it you will nail that 1.8 in no time. Just keep at it man and see what happens at any rate you will lower that time a damn good bit. Some one else will chime in and let you know whats up.

Your 60' times are killing you but your speed says you should be running 11's.

Wow, you dropped 4 tenths by getting a better 60', yet still bombed the trap speed?!

I think with the right launch, and NOT blowing it near the end of the track, an 11.xxx is entirely possible!!

Somehow you really gotta work on the launch??! Ok, so you've got 17" BFG DR's, what about suspension mods?? Or, try running a 16" DR, or maybe even 15"? (I think you need more sidewall) ...

... granted, you've got a quick car, but guys are hooking up more powerful cars than that ... something ain't adding up, or you really are just a BAD DRIVER?!?!?! (seriously, I'm sure it's just the setup )

Yea, I need to figure out what this car wants at the tree. Droppin from 2.6 to 2.05 brought me down to 12.4 and i trapped 12 mph less. ( i suck) My bud was breakin my ***** BAD. lol . Missing 5th gear sucked.. I wish i had less gear so i could run 4th out through the traps.

I think the car will hook with the 17 inch drag radials, as there are guys going much quicker than me with them. I just need to find that sweet spot.

My brother in law has some 16 inch et streets , so i may try them and see if there is any improvement in the launch.

The only suspension mods are spohn Lca's and sub frame connectors.

Its basically a stock rebuild with forged internals and the S-Trim, but the guys at f body central put a great tune in it! I would love to go 11's with the 5psi that i am seeing. If that happens i can always pulley it down to see 7-9 psi and go from there.

how many guys are seeing 1.8's or better with a 6spd?

thanks for the replies.

You may want to consider LCA relocation brackets, and an aftermarket, adjustable torque arm as well . You need to get that rear end planted, especially considering the power you're putting to it .
