anyone tried these cheapie Bart wheels from summit?

I want 15x8's to use at the track. I was considering either:
http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat
or
http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat

the wheels on the first link are cheaper, but the highest backspace they have in a 15x8 with 5x4.75 bolt circle is 4". Is that too little backspacing? I know the weld draglites in that size for our cars have a 4.5" backspacing. The second link has some wheels with a 4" and some with 5" backspacing. Can I use any of these wheels or will I have to find something with a 4.5" BS?

Has anyone tried these wheels? Any fitment issues or other problems with em?

These cars need 15x8 with 5.5" backspace, and those wheels are for Dirt track cars.
Not sure how well they would work for drag racing.

Either way,the backspace isnt right.

well with 5" vs 5.5" backspacing, is that really a major big deal? I wouldn't be running them on the street, and if it sticks out 1/2" that's not horrible...not like it's the ghetto look with tires sticking out 8" past the wheelwell...I dunno...anyone out there running 15x8's with a 5" BS? pics?

I think those wheels would be fine for track use. What I want to know is why doesn't that same company or any others make a econo front skinnie rim? I don't get why the cheapest front skinnies are over $100 each but you can by 15x8 rears for under $50 Anyway, I just got a set of 15x4 Centerline Telstars from Summit.

Heres that way I see it, its a circle track wheel plain and simple. its forged steel and heavy. The 5" b.s. will probably work with a 26-27" tire, as long as its not real wide. You will gain the advantage of having a wider selection of tires and benifit from more sidewall with a 15" rim.... but the weight of the wheel isnt going to be any benifit. I'd bet they are heavier than a stock aluminum wheel just because they are made of steel.

But they shoud work, and will probably fit without any major problems. Just check for the fitment and you may need to grind the calipers to clear the brake calipers... and you may still have to run a spacer anyway depending on the desgin. If you run a spacer, you "may" need longer studs to pass tech at the track.

Good luck and let us know how it works out. I'm curious myself.

Angry

grr...looks like they only had one in stock at the ohio warehouse, so I should have one wheel today, and the other one is coming from nevada and won't be here til next wednesday

Oh well, I can test fit everything and make sure I don't have any fitment issues with the wheel itself, and with any luck I can get to the track with em next thurs...

yeah, it's a little heavier than I'd like, about 27 lbs according to the bart wheel website. Their IMCA wheels are lighter, about 19 lbs each, but are only rated for a car up to 2800 lbs...didn't wanna mess with that. I'm too cheap/poor to spend $300ish on a nice set of draglites at the moment, and didn't wanna get 16" tires, so I hadda compromise somewhere...

ok, here's an update. one of them came today. I don't have my ET streets yet, I just sent out payment for them today. I test fitted the rim, I'm gonna hafta grind the caliper fins like you do with the welds and a few other draglites. But otherwise they look like they'll fit nicely. I'll try to post pics once I get the other rim and get tires mounted, to show how much if any they stick out and how they look in general.

Just Curious - Why didnt you want to go with 16" tires?

the bigger sidewall helps traction. Although at my level the difference may be negligible, I dunno...

and the 15" tires cost 8 bucks less

Just wondering, what lugs did you have to use for those Bart wheels.
