Another what will it run thread...

ok well my times and mods r in my sig... they are only 8th mile times because the track closed the 1/4 down because of high crosswinds but they r my best 8th mile times... my best 1/4 is 13.31 with the same mods

ok so what do u think i will run next spring with the addition of a 3600 vig stall and a pro race rebuilt transmission from frank over at CPT? the goal is 12.9x what do u all think?

if you hit 12's its going to be from you cutting great 60fts. Your looking for .4 gain so thats kind of a lot, but im not a a4 so i dont really know the gains your looking at. But i take it you ran the 13.3 on the 1.87 60ft in your sig, so your already 60fting the car pretty good. It could happen, if you hit a high 1.6 or low 1.7 your going to get a 12 sec slip.

If the new converter and trans doesn't do it, pick up a set of skinnies for the front. Those are some heavy wheels you have on the front, correct?

yea i figured the 3600 would gain methe most... but i posted this over at ls1tech and a lot of them thought it was too much of a stall for a bolt on lt1... that i will loose performance from it.... what do u think?

yea lol they r pretty heavy up front... plus i still have my front swaybar on... i always wonder if i got some skinnies and removed the front swaybar if she would lift the front wheels at all and what my 60ft would be like... but unfortunatly i dont have the money for skinnies and i havent removed the front swaybar for DD purposes

Pick up a used set if and when money permits. And try it without the front sway bar. You might be surprised, and the handling might not be that bad. The worst that could happen is you'll bust the end links taking them off and have to buy some new ones if you decide to put it back on.
Go with the 3600, and just grow into it.

Are you going to stop modding if you run a 12.9x? I didn't think so. Converters aren't cheap, and I'm sorry I didn't get the 3600 in the first place. Do a search, maybe I'm wrong about the stall rating. But I would give it a shot.

According to my calculations, your 8.42 in the 1/8 would be a 13.15 in the 1/4. So, you're really close to 12s. And yes, the Vig 3600 could easily give you five-tenths (0.5) possibly more if you've got the traction to hold it on the launch.

Also, my Vigilante likes to be flashed off the line (I have a lot of cubes). I just bring-up the RPM enought to preload the drive train, then let it flash with WOT on the launch.

It's been a while but as a recall removing the front swaybar made a bigger difference than I thought it would and I still drove it on the street. I swapped out the 3.23 for 3.73 gears and used a 2400 stall converter and a few other goodies and went into the 12.7's. I will be cleaning the basement over the winter and will make a list of whats around that might be useful to you.I kept a lot of stuff after I went full racecar mode. See you at NED in the spring.

yea a few other posters over at LS1tech.com say 3600 would be too much of a stall and not net me the best gains... what stall would maximize my performance? i kno 1slowformula is also going for the record and his stall is at 3500

Those people who post and read on LS1tesh don't know squat! You'll probably do some more performance upgrades on your car in the future (cam, Etc.) and grow into the 3600.

You would probably get more benefit from the 3600 converter if you had 3.73 or 4.10 gears.
