almost hit 12's w/ simple bolt-on's--->

this friday night i went to the track to see if i could top last months 13.3@101. this weekend i pulled the seats, bought some prostars for the front, and put my et streets on some 5-star t/a wheels. that and i changed my y-pipe/cutout setup to x-pipe/bullets. the weather was the same as last time, around the mid 50's. after a little incident w/ the front runners, i headed to the lanes. although i only had time for two runs, i was pretty happy. tell me what u guys think?? runs as follows:

1st:
60ft....1.77
1/8th..8.27@82.1
1/4mi..13.09(no mph recorded)

2nd:
1.76
8.23@82.4
13.03@102.5

everyone was pretty impressed for me having just LT's/duals/stall. some guy w/ a hotcam LT1 ran a 13.1 and some cammed LS1's were running mid 12's. and the one thing i like was i got to see Mike Murillo's 8.77@158 street driven mustang do some passes. man did the crown like the sound of the turbo when he got to the line, it sounded like a f*cking jet. i plan on going back in a week w/ some suspension work and im hoping for some 12 second slips. if everything goes good next week then im getting 3.73's/1.6rr's/and some spray on spring break . does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do next?

Nice times. Sounds like you are on the right track as for your future mods. If you don't have it tuned, then I would do that next though.....other than that it sounds good.

If you do nitrous you'll need a window switch, fpss, and a bottle heater to do things safely. If you wanna spray a 150 shot safely then it best to upgrade the fuel pump.

Other small mods you can also do would be ASP underdrive pullies, electric water pump and maybe some suspension stuff would help out.

I am gonna be right with ya this year......In spring I am installing pacesetter longtubes into duals, 3.73 gears and an NX wet kit. I might also get a higher stall converter money depending.........and I havent decided what tire I am gonna run, but probably et street or BFG Drag radials.

Good luck to ya......and good luck on possibly hitting a high 11 with the giggle juice

Re: almost hit 12's w/ simple bolt-on's--->

since you mentioned a stall, i am now wondering if i would have bought a vigi. or a yank if i would have hit a 12. the converter is a Hughes 3000, it cost me about $535 with cooler. or i should have just bought a 3200 or even 3500 stall. oh well i guess i would never know what it would have done. Marky Mark i would have to strongly suggest getting some skinnies up front, and some et streets out back for maximum traction. two weeks ago i went in street trim 17/18's Z06's and i barely broke a 13.9@98 on a 2.1 60ft. so it just goes to show how much traction,weight and rolling mass plays on a cars et. you really got to update when you get your mods and take that baby to the track ASAP. good luck to ya also, and sorry if i sounded like i was preaching last few lines.

trust me, I know about weight savings......I pulled my rear seats, swaybar, spare tire and jack, air/egr systems, traction control, and am gonna remove my abs when it starts getting warmer out. I'm not too sure if I'll get skinnies or not........again money depending, and if I do get a stall converter it will probably be an Edge converter stalled at 3000 or 3200. I will definately go to the track alot this year......heck last year I probably made over 50 passes at 3 different 1/4 mile tracks. Drag racing is hella fun and ya meet new people all the time.

Great times. I expect to be doing the same thing in a couple months.

Hooker LTs, Vig. 3200, and 3.73s on E/T streets oughta be pretty potent.

LS1_03, i see your running some good times yourself. dont know why but my car traps a lot lower than other LT1 cars i have seen, when i ran 13.52 a month ago i only trapped 98 mph. i guess it might just be the stall??

Thanks. Yes, the stall will lower your MPH by quite a bit. I'm hoping to see that 12.99 or better timeslip this spring. *crosses fingers*
