aftermarket seats with ihra/nhra rules question

i am not sure if this is the correct fourm to ask this or not but anyway

i am going to a set of jaz seats. my question is i thought i saw a article that says with aftermarket seats you have to have a rollbar with a crossbar that is within a certain distance from the head area of the seat. any truth to that or did i dream it up?

There are roll bar rules if you go quicker than 11.50. Quicker than 11.50 the rollbar must be highter than the driver's helmet (driver sitting in the car). The seat (stock or aftermarket) must be connected (one bolt) the the roll bar. If your slower than 11.50 you don't need a roll bar. You always have the option of installing one but you don't have to meet the rulebook. Same with the seat rules and 5 point harness. Note: if your slower than 11.50 you don't need the date certification on the 5 point harness (you can use a harness older than 2 years and be legal to run 11.50 and slower).

Where I race, even if you are not required to have a five point, they check the dates and if they are more than two years old they must be replaced with new belts or the original equipment must be re-installed.

The roll bar must also conform to standard, regardless of whether the vehicles performance requires it.

That is just how my track is.

i was reading some old posts on the subject and found something. someone stated in the nhra rulebook states that a car with a 6 point roll bar, that has a full interior, doen't need a cage untill it goes 9.4 something, i think was the e.t , might be a little off. thanks for the help guys , i need to get it done right while its all torn down the first time.

i don't think this woud effect anything but it might, i will only be running the 1/8th.

NHRA rules allow a full interior w/ 6-point down to 10.00. Once you go below 10.00 (run 9.99 or quicker) everything changes. Additionally, you need to check with your local track tech people. Each track takes a slightly different approach to the basic rules.
