Advice on set up

I am about to install the K-member.
I currently have a BMR K-member with the integrated motor mounts New In the box. I contacted them about running solid mounts with it and it was going to be more fabrication than I wanted to spend the time on.

SO, is it worth getting a different K-member, say the LT1 without the integrated mounts or the SBC/BBC one and run the Solid Mounts?

I am going for the lightest set up but how much would I actually be loosing going to a different K with Solid mounts? I am beginning to think no more than 5 pound difference....and it is not worth that, right now.

Anyone have an opinion? OH, this will be a 90% strip car.

Shon, what kind of fabrication are you talking about? I just put the Moroso solid motor mounts (mount) on my race car with a BMR LT1 K member. I only used the driver's side mount, but since the passenger side motor mount is integrated into the K member I don't see a need for a solid mount on that side.

Re: Advice on set up

This is what BMR said:
"It can be done but it is not a simple matter. If you have fabrication experience you can machine a solid aluminum bushing to replace the polyurethane bushings on the passenger side. Then you have to make a bracket that eliminates the rubber mount on the drivers side. This would consist of a plate that mounts to the block with a bracket that goes down to the plate on the K-member.
The other solution is to use a front motor plate with frame standoffs."

Maybe I am reading it wrong or maybe they are covering more of their *** than needed.

SO, you put in the Driver side Solid mount as usual and then just put the passenger side together like it says to.

My problem is I have not witnessed the install of a K-member and have not even got mine out to look at it, that's my fault.

Know anyone that has just one solid mount I could get? Since I only need 1?

Yes, to make it a completely solid set up, you would have to fabricate a solid bushing for the passenger side to replace the poly bushings.

There is no need to fabricate anything. That's what the Moroso driver's side motor mount is. It eliminates the factory rubber mount, and it's a direct bolt on.

That's what I did. Granted it's not completely solid, however the way the passenger side mount on the BMR K member is designed, it's pretty solid as it is.

I got a NIB pair on eBay for about half what Jegs charges. Sometime in the future, I will probably get one of the machinist's at work to make a solid bushing for the passenger side. Shouldn't be that difficult if I take the poly bushings out so he can use them for measurements.

Shon,
The race car is on the lift at my friends house. I'm heading down there tomorrow to work on it. I'll get him to take a couple of pics with his digital camera and email them to you if you like.
