Talking A4 + 4.10's @ 1/4 mile = ???

I'll find out tomorrow.

In case you guys haven't read in the Drivetrain Forum lately, I installed 4.10's in my car last month, and I'm finally going to track tomorrow night to test them out for the first time. At the moment, I don't have DR's or ET Streets on the back, just a set of 1 month old Hankook street tires, so I'm not holding my hopes real high for "amazing" new times, but I'd certainly like to see something better than my current record of 13.4 in the 1/4.

Before I go, do you guys have any predictions on what you think I may run? (given that hopefully the track conditions will be decent, and the temperature is only supposed to be about ~64 degrees tomorrow). As much as I'd love to see a LOW 13 (like 13.0xx - 13.1xx) I'm not expecting anything like that 'til I invest in REAL tires for the back (probably another month or two away).

Anyways, wish me luck, and I'll post my results (honestly - whether they're good or bad ) as soon as I can.

hey, that's what my best ET was too

I went from 13.75 to 13.42 by going from 3.73s and a burned out posi to 4.10s and a good posi and a bit less weight. My sixty foot times dropped from a best of 1.92 to 1.79

Going to 4.10's from 2.73's without sticky tires may actually hurt your times. Only time will tell. Good luck!

FWIW, I had 3.73's in the car last summer, and ran 13.431 @ 104.74 with a 60' of 2.058, so technically it's "quicker" than the time in my sig by .003 seconds, and the 60' is a little bit quicker, but the speed was slower, and track prep also sucked that night, so I'm prepared to run about the same tonight! Like I said though, I got new tires about a month ago, so maybe they'll hook up a little better than my old tires did last year?

you really need new tires (drag radials) I pulled a 2.029 with 2.73's on bfg drag radials......and Im gonna get some 3.73's soon. If you couldnt hook up with the 3.73's then I'm gonna guess your gonna have a nightmare at the line and unless you can find a way to launch it good, I think your times will be worse.

*** The Results Are In !!! ***

Here's the breakdown:

- First run at 8:41pm, last run at 10:05pm
- Temp was around ~16* C or so (~60* F)
- Track Prep was very good IMO

--- Time ----- Speed --- 60' time (quickest/fastest are in bold)
1) 13.331 @ 105.32, 2.004
2) 13.210 @ 106.09, 1.979
3) 13.269 @ 105.83, 1.954
4) 13.278 @ 105.69, 1.992
5) 13.312 @ 105.80, 1.984
6) 13.327 @ 105.82, 1.982

So needlesstosay, I'm pretty happy! I mean, compared to 13.434, I ran almost 1/4 second quicker (.224 quicker to be exact ) and that's still on street tires, so hopefully if I get slicks so that the tires don't spin at all, then ***maybe, just maybe*** I could hit a 12.9xx this summer?!!!

As you can see from those runs, the car runs very consistant speeds (105.8x mph, +/- a little bit). Also, the times are pretty consistant 13.2's - 13.3's, with only .121 seconds difference between the quickest and slowest runs! AND, I was happy to finally see some 60' times UNDER 2.0 seconds!!! Now I just need slicks.

Nice times.....60 is looking good man. I guess those newer tires combined with some good track prep did good for ya. My car runs really consistent like yours does I ran 7 runs at the track this week and all of em were like .07 of each other. oh and update your sig!!!

I agree, the new tires worked a lot better than the old factory Eagle RSA's did, and it wasn't very busy at the track either, so I think they were spending a little more time & effort keeping it clean or whatever it is that they do to help cars hook up?!

Way to go! How were the shift points? Did you run out of gear and need to go into OD?

I shifted both the 1-2 and the 2-3 around ~6000 RPM, so the car was running around ~5800 RPM in 3rd gear when I crossed the line. It works out perfect.

Are you sure you have 4.10's then? With my 3.73's it shifts into 4th around 107-108mph (5800 RPM's). I would think after 4.10's in an A4 it would shift into 4th around 100mph, mabey less.
