95 Z28 A4 track times...

Finally got my 95 Z28 down the track and ran a best of 14.26 @ 95.52. 60' was a 2.06 on street tires.

The ONLY mod is a Vig 2800 TC and a rebuilt trans w/Trans-go shift kit. Everything else is untouched, from the paper air filter to the stock exhaust. PCM programming is still stock. Motor has 95k miles. Also has the 2.73s (yuck) and loaded with all the power options. Also ran it at full weight....I even left the spare tire and jack in the back.

Just wondering if that time is ok with a stock A4 Z28. Should I be running better? Also I think the posi is going bad, at times only one wheel will spin. With drag radials I'm sure I can take better advantage of the 2800 TC.

I'm also definitely going with 3.73 gears....it just felt flat at the upper end and the trans would shift into 3rd right before crossing the finish line.

Just for the hell of it, I pulled out the paper air filter and ran a 14.19 @ 96.60 w/2.08 60'. Time for a CAI!

I also let the wife try it, and she ran a 14.32 @ 96.36...now I got her hooked into racing!

Times in sig..

Stock I ran a 14.4@97 with a flowmaster.. So your times are about right I'd say. Im proud of my 95 A4, even though its slow compared to all the new LS1s and Cobras, but hell im proud

Ok, so mid to low 14s is about right then for stock and some factory freaks are in the high 13s. That gives me a good baseline to start with when I start the mods.

Steve0- If I remember right, it was in the low 80s that night with humidity around mid 80s....i believe the track is right around sea level.

Robert95z- I know what you mean...even though I got my butt handed to me that night by an LS1 Firebird I'm still happy with the car.

strong 323 cars will run high 13's, 6spds driven right should run high 13's, and 273 a4 cars are generally all in the low 14 area
