Re: 94 z28 vs tiburon who should win

Well, I've raced an Acura Integra with a turbo'd B16 motor, and I kicked his a$$ on the highway . Never raced from a stop, but from ~70+ mph, no problem!! He actually stayed a lot closer than I expected upto ~120 mph, but beyond that, bye, bye!!!

I can't imagine a Tiburon with a turbo would be any better (if it's even as good as? ) a Honda V-Tec engine with a turbo?!

I'd just race her and find out, I wouldn't think the car could beat you. Hell I bet she can't even drive it good. And if she's hot just tell her you'll race back to your place.

Hyundai doesn't make a Turbo Tiburon. In any case, if it were turbo'd and it was stock, like she claims, you'd still dust her. Play along with her game anyhow and take her up on the race, I'd like to hear the results

I was about to say the same thing. The girl with the Tiburon will be lucky that it doesnt spontaneously combust on her let alone beat you in a race. I've driven a manager of mine's at work and its no where near stock LT1 performance nor in the same league. She has no chance.

If it's a newer Tiburon (the ones that aren't as ugly), it might have a 200hp V6 and a six-speed. No turbo, though. That's engine horsepower, not wheel horsepower.

If she's stock, you should blow her away. I've seen a Tiburon run in the 10's, but it had two turbo engines. (Yes, really. I've got video.)

Unless your LT1 breaks, blows up or dies, you should win.

I've seen that, and I was blown away. Don't misread Jakerobb's comment here folks...this car didnt have two turbos, it had two turbo ENGINES! One in the rear and one in the front. That's some genius innovation and engineering there...

That must have cost a small fortune to put that turd in the 10s.

As stated unless your LT1 has severe problems you should win. I am pretty sure its not a turbo though. I just looked at a newer Tiburon engine bay today, the girl I am datingh has one. DOHC 16 valve 4 Banger. Although it does look like there is plenty of room up front for a turbo of the exhaust manifolds.

I beat one of those in my old 89 5.0 mustang. This was when I first bought the car and i was stock. it was an auto and went a whopping 15.4 @ 89 . If an LT1 can't go faster than that, there is something seriously wrong with it. I beat the tiburon by 2 - 2.5 cars

The car was an entry in a magazine's tuner challenge -- a bunch of people bring cars and compete in a bunch of categories.

I have no idea what it cost, but the car had two turbocharged engines, each with its own automatic transmission. Each engine made more than 300hp to the wheels, one driving the front wheels, and one driving the rears. The guy that did it owned a Hyundai dealership or something, so he had access to cheap parts.

600+ hp to the ground, AWD, and a very lightweight car -- 10's don't surprise me at all.

There were two shift levers by the driver's seat. For the burnout section of the competition, the owner put the front transmission in reverse and the rear in drive, and then floored it. Smoke was pouring from all four tires, and the car slowly spun in place. Quite impressive. Needless to say, he won the burnout contest.

I'll see if I can find that video.

EDIT: Here it is!
