69 RS vs 94' Z28 o_0

my friend has a 1969 Camaro RS auto, with dual-flowmaster exhausts and an edelbrock intake everything else is stock and its had a past of HORRIBLE problems yet he still says he can take me in a 1/4 mile. me having a 1994 z28 auto, complete stock...

can anyone predict an outcome? =)

Need more information on the '69. Ralley Sport (RS) was a styling option it could have just about any engine in it.

The 327 was only available as a 210 horsepower 2 barrel version in the '69 Camaro. And, that's 210 gross horsepower. Your car should be faster.

You will beat him pretty substantially. Just another old musclecar nut who thinks his car is a monster.

My Dad's '73 Camaro, with a 355 that's nowhere near stock, barely edges my car out in the 1/4 mile . A stock 327 vs. an LT1? I don't think that '69 has quite enough "muscle" to pull it off! I betcha he runs ~15-something in the 1/4!

While I like the old cars, there day of being top dog is over. If you really wanna put it in his face, take an old motor (one of the big one's) and put fuel injection on it.

the lt1 will take him. the stock lt1 heads are light years ahead of the stock 69 small block heads in flow and design. the cam profile (roller) in the lt1 also gives it an advantage. the higher compression of the lt1 will also help.

The problem with the old motors isn't the few delivery system, its that most of the stock components could do a vastly better job of moving air through the engine.

A 210 horsepower 327 was never considered a performance engine. It's like comparing a 3.8 V6 to an LS1 motor. You want to race a top dog from the muscle car era go race a 454SS Chevelle, 375HP SS396 Camaro, 428SCJ Mustang, Hemi Dart, Ford Thunderbolt, etc.

Sure, I would love to run any of them in an LS1 F-Body. What was an LS-6 Chevelle's typically stock trap speed? 105mph? I believe that is the fastest I have ever heard them go, and that is with the crappy launch generated by their old bias-ply sh*t tires.

Besides, comparing a 3.8 v6 to a 327 isn't exactly the same either. There were non v8 engines to be gotten in Camaros as well. This didn't start out as some internet bench race either. The reason the 327 is being compared should be pretty self explanatory, considering the first post in this thread.
