26" or 28" front runners?

What are the pro's and con's of running a taller front tire? I have to buy tires this year and was wondering about the 28x4.5x15's instead of old faithful 26x4.5x15's. I've read about them in a XXXX mag but for got what the artical was about.

When I had 26" fronts I used to launch the the light was on solid. It was tough. When I went to 28" fronts I could launch when the light cam on which was much easier for me.

Each car is different and your staging technique, local track configuration, suspension, tire selection (front and back), air pressure, rollout, all play a part in a good launch. Do some math, review your launches, think about where you leave on the tree...

Oh yea, if your track moves to the new LED lights you have an entirely new variable to contend with.

I use to footbrake off the last yellow,as soon as I seen it I smashed the gas. I now have a transbrake so thats one more thing I have to throw in the mix.
TNT: did you have any problems with the 28" tires when turning or hitting the top of the wheel well when you came down after a launch?

I also run the 28" tire for additional roll out. When I was running a 26" tire I would have to hesitate on the last yellow and with the 28" I can leave as soon as i see the light. I have no problems with the tire rubbing on launch or turns and I drive the car daily in the summer.

They come real close in a tight corner but I just allow for that when negotiating turns. They touch just a bit on landing but nothing a sawsall didn't fix. Depends on how high you launch too.

My 26" rub when I turned and came down after a launch, but my ride height with the HAl's is a bit low. I'll just jack up the ride height and try out the 28's this year. Thanks guys.
