230/236 Track times

I took my car to the track the other night after I got a new tranny installed. The tranny is a stock GM part with a stock torque converter. (my old one was a stock tranny with an SLP 2800 converter)

With the old tranny the car ran a 8.5 1/8th at 85mph w/ a 2.025 60" dead hooking. But with the new tranny and stock converter I ran 8.4 at 83 mph 2.065 60" dead hooking(1/8th).

My car still has stock heads. Mac mid. headers, no cat, cutout, and bald 245 street tires.

Just checking to see if I'm on par with everyone else's times. I'll have 1/4 times sat. the 11th.

That cam is really begging for a stall convertor 3K+? I thought the car would be faster, even with the stock heads. What gears are you running?

I'm guessing its a combo of my 1 5/8 headers and only being able to launch off idle due to my stock converter. 7.9 would be easy with a set of hooker LT's and a stall.

What elevation are you at? My car went 8.6 @ 84 with longtubes and CAI, on stock heads and cam. Have you tuned the car? Also, what did it run stock? Do you have any comparison times before the cam?

I am at 400ft above sea level. I just did a rebuild on the engine. The only thing I added for power was the cam though. It ran a 9.4 before the cam. The car was dyno tuned at TEA.
