1st time in $800 Trans Am.

Took the 93 Trans Am to the track just to get some numbers the way i bought it. I bought it about a month ago for $800 with a slipping A-4. I got a good launch, but due to sitting so long to run the trans did slip going into second gear only. tried to go a second time but slipped badly and had to let off and coast through. car was fine after it cooled down, seems it slips only after sitting long periods of time.

R/T .113
60' 2.3
1/8 9.6
1/4 14.8
mph 93.1

car has 192K Miles also!

If you got the trans fixed it would run low 14's. Do a good tune up and you ll find more power in her.

When my car was only bolt-ons a couple years back my trans did exactly that as it heated up it would slip more and more between the 2-3 shift.

One night my first run was 13.3 @105.17 with barely any slippage. The next run was 13.5 @ 103 with a bounce off the rev limiter. And the last run was 13.7 @ 102 with a couple bounces off the rev limiter. Ironically it was consistent that after every run I'd lose two tenths from slippage. After that I called it quits as the trans was just getting worse and worse. Would be perfectly fine once it cooled.

Nice R/T. You can't beat that with a $2 hoe. A rebuilt 700R4 with a 3k stall and DR would do wonders with your time. Course you prolly already knew that based upon all the vehicles you've already tinkered with I see.

Thanks, It was only my second time at the track and the first was in the 99 Firebird I cant wait to put some time and cash in her, but as the old saying goes! When you got the cash, you dont have the time and im sure when i have the time i wont have the money. so im trying to stock up on parts now! I know this is the wrong place for this but this is my first encounter with a 4L60 (93 only Right???) now will i have to buy a converter for that trans. only or will any T/C for an LT-1 4L60E work?

if you dont really want to spend any money on it and want to go faster build a custom PVC cai, cutout, drop as much weight out of the car. also get a pcm tune, for 75 or 100 bucks you cant really beat it.

With 150lbs off the car and a cai, cutout, pcm tune you should be able to get into the 13's.

You got a great deal on the T/A. Where are you running that's close to cedar bluff? I'm not too familiar with the the west end of va. I've been to natural bridge and heard new river valley had a track.

I have been for a while and still am, working in Waldorf MD. I bought the car here and ran at Maryland International Speedway in Budds Creek Md. You might remember Pinks ran an ALL OUTS episode here a while back and recently a new series, with bikes only! Bristol Motor Speedway is the closest back home though!

ALSO-
slowride94Z Thanks for the info that will come in handy
