I used to run a pair of 26x11.5's also. I didn't run tubes or have to do any fender mods. Never had a problem with them.

Mine are 28 x 12.5 x 15's and I had to cut the lower fender back a couple of inches to make them fit. Also, the top of my rear fenders have already been re-worked and they come real close to hitting on the launch, plus I have the proper size rims. I got them to slow down my 60' times and make me more consistent for bracket racing which has a 12.00 cutoff in Street Et at my local track.
