Talking 10.98@121.44 Cam Only!

I drove out to No Problem Raceway tonight for an awesome night of racing in some awesome weather.

Raceweight 3300
Weather 39 degrees, 81% humidity, 30.33 Baro,
-1700 D/A

This is the weather I've been waiting for since last april.

1.450 dead hook
6.943@97.20
10.980@121.44

I backed this run up with a slight spin
1.475
6.978@97.20
11.018@121.01

Another run of the night, while I was still sorting out tire pressure:
1.50
7.02@96.81
11.07@120.96

It is so nice to set a goal and meet it!

I'd like to give a big thanks to Allan Futral of Futral Motorsports for all his help with my car. My car went a quickest of 11.59@116 with stock internals, and with Allan's 226/226 575/575 114 cam, ram air setup, tuning, 4.10's, and about a 60 pound weight reduction I now have a ten second timeslip for a car that is just as streetable as it was with stock internals! No race gas, no trailer, and bone stock heads!

My mods are listed here if anyone is curious http://www.futralmotorsports.com/mike_hoffpauir.htm

Thumbs up

Mike that was just BAD A$$!!! I'm glad Pat and the boys prep'd the track for last night. Looks like running with the "big tire" cars helped us all out last night.
10's with bolt-ons, free mods, & a cam is just incredible!!! I'm pretty sure you're the first LS1 with that type of setup to hit 10's.

Congrats on the great time.

My friend saw your car at Hub City Dragway and said it was amazing.

I just watched the video and the motor sounds real good. Was that run with the muffler and full exhaust on it? How did you get the car down to 3300 pounds, remove the AC?

Thanks everyone. Steve your car has really come a long way and is most impressive for a LT1 bolt-on effort.

Ed, that vid on the web page shows my car as I ran it for the 10.98 run, but that 11.16 was back in april. My exhaust setup for all out racing is to drop the borla off the car and install a 3.5" bullet muffler at the merge collector on the y-pipe. Thats what you see and hear there and thats what I ran Friday night.

My car still has A/C, Both Air Bags, Both Bumpers, Side Impact beams, Full Stereo, ABS, and so forth and so on.

The closest thing to a luxury that I have taken off of the car is the power steering. I always have skinnies on the car, and was always running a short belt. So I decided to pull the 10 pounds worth of pump and pully.

The aftermarket lightweight stuff I have is: BMR K-member, Genesis Battery, Jegs race seat, slicks and skinnies, and after that its stuff liek the torque convertor and headers that are lighter than factory equipment.

Also, I weigh about 225 pounds myself.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that bit of info Mike. I guess the next way to remove some weight would be removal of the AC, especially the compressor, it weighs around 25 pounds I believe. Your engine must be about 50 or so pounds lighter than an LT1 also, you have an aluminum block. Your not running a stock rear are you? What ya got, ford 9"?

I'm running the stock rear
Also, I think the LS1 block is 70 pounds lighter than the LT1.

You pulled a 1.4 on the stock rear Is the LS1 rear stronger than the LT1 or what?
I'm scared sh*tless of putting DRs on my car cause I can't afford a new rearend. What's the secret?

Nice times. Do you have all the safety items in your car such as a roll bar, 5-point harness, etc.? Or did they let you run 10's without it?
