An 03 Cobra timeslips

For those that were not there, this was taken at Capitol Raceway opening day16 MAR 03. There were about 3-4 other 03 cobras there. They were modded with chip/pulley ect... I didnt see them even getting into the 12's they were all in the 13's. Although I didnt see every race, I may have missed a race where they did hit 12's. MY car is stock (including tires) except for straitpipes. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME AT A TRACK.

3 runs
Run1 Run 2 Run3
R/T .983 1.103 .957
60' 2.379 2.291 2.041
330 5.99 5.835 5.530
1/8 8.832 8.649 8.325
MPH 87.39 87.91 88.34
1000 11.230 11.043 10.709
1/4 13.353 13.076 12.807
MPH 101.87 111.82 108.23

Summary(Note: I had no wheel hop any of the runs.)
Race 1: Virtually no heating of the tires and I got no traction at launch. I spun tires all 1st and into 2nd. Horrible run.
Race2: Good heating of the tires but I totally chickened out after the first run and didnt drop the clutch. I just started accelerating from idle. I did not even spin tires at launch. NOTE the MPH in this race.
Race 3: Good heating of the tires and a great launch. dropped the clutch at 2500rpm. It stuck like glue. It was one hard launch. The bad news I missed 4th gear. I would have been in 12.6-12.7 range if i didnt. Notice the low MPH.

There were some impressive LS1 there many in the deep 12 and 11's. There was even a 2002 Z06 running 12.9's.

Evan

Yeah, I can believe it. Last October at Rockingham (NC) I saw an 03 Cobra run 12.54 on stock tires and granny shifting it. It was good air that day. I didn't "see" any mods (stock exhaust, tires, eyc.) , but it could have had pulley's, etc.

Thumbs up

Nice runs!

Your car is the only Mustang I will give props to. They are badddd!

And thanks for being in the military!!!!

I was in USAF for 8 years. I loved it.

One thing though...you must be an officer because there aren't too many enlisted guys that could afford a Cobra and it's insurance. Then again...maybe you saved up for it.

Anyway...cool runs!

Nope I am enlisted(E-5). we were paying on 2 cars and paid one off. So we traded in the one that we still owed on and the total payment is the same as what i was paying for the 2 cars.

Thanks all for all your props guys. It does mean alot...Evan

New cobras are earning respect. More than I can say for the other ones.

They are a blast to drive, thats for sure! I ran my buddy's at darlington a few weeks back, and boy, traction is hard to come by. The best we got was a 12.2 @ 119 w/ 2.0 60'. He has a pulley, chip and exhaust. We are gonna go back soon with some more boost and see what it can do. We tried bolting up some slicks, but they wouldn't fit cause of the rear disk brakes. Anywho, awesome times on your car, and keep at it. Our first pass was only a 12.8 @ 113, so I'm sure your car has some more in it.

Are you talking about a silver 03 Cobra owned by Jamie and his wife Jenny?<--- If not disregard that statement.

Hey man why don't you shoot me a PM or something when y'all plan to go back.

If it is Jenny and Jamie's Silver 03 Cobra then that is one bad car. I watched it on the dyno, very loud. And also I went to school with Jenny.

If this is not Jenny and Jamie's Silver 03 Cobra than I am going to feel and look like a complete moron.

Who are you talking about? I don't know who that is.

J/K! Haha...Yeah, its Jamie and Jens. Well, its Jens and she lets Jamie drive it! lol I'll give you a heads up when we go back to the track for sure. I think Jamie wants to dyno it again this week with the bigger pulley. He was getting some knock with the chip that had added timing. It is one bad car! Should be easily over 500 rwhp now. BTW, are you local to Colatown, or were you at the dyno with the cobra club? Holla at ya later!
