Where should this plug go?

Hello,
I have a 1997 WS6 transam, which, of course, is pretty much the same as the camaro. I hope you don't mind me posting a question here.
I bought the car a little while ago knowing it doesn't pass smog, and the previous owner did somewhat short sighted mods in the attempt to improve performance. Some of the harness isn't connected properly, and other parts have been burned by the headers he put on.
I really want to get the car working as intended, so I am trying to figure out where this plug is suppose to go. (Please see pic)
Is this suppose to tie into the EVAP system in some way?
It looks connected to the smog pump that blows air into the exhaust manifold.
If you can't tell from the pics, this is pretty close to the steering column on the driver's side of the car.

Anyone know what this should connect to?

How many wires, and what colors? The AIR pump connector has three wires - 2 red and one black.

There is also a “bleed valve” on the discharge piping from the AIR pump. That has two wires, but I'd have to look at the factory service manual for the colors. It gets a bit complicated, because there was a factory recall on the AIR system, and some other parts were added.

Not likely for the EVAP system. There is a connector to the EVAP purge solenoid on a bracket on the passenger side of the intake manifold, and a vacuum detection switch for the EVAP system on the forward area of the passenger side valve cover.

No problem with owning a Firebird. I've been here for 20+ years, with the 1994 Formula I bought brand new. This site used to be busy, but it seems the only people left are a half-dozen die hard LT1 owners, and lots of LT1 newbies looking for help.

Free download of 1996 factory service manual courtesy of GaryDoug (PS - Gary owns a Trans Am too). Should be ~99% identical to 1997.

Re: Where should this plug go?

AIR pump,..yeah, that's what i was thinking of, not EVAP.
I think the AIR pump connector is connected; I believe it's the one circled in blue.
I'll have to look into the AIR pump purge valve. Maybe the previous owner got rid of that when they installed headers, although the BBK headers do have the smog tubes.
Do you have any pictures of where the purge valve is?

I tried the link to the service manual link above, but it brought me to a "not the right browser page." Any chance it's an incorrect link?

Thanks a bunch for your help!
