Where to get tuning software?

Just converted my '97 Lt-1 to OBD-1. I just wanted to know what is the best tunning software to go with, where to get it and the cable, how much $...?
Thanks.

Re: Where to get tuning software?

I use tunercat on mine its cheaper than LT1edit and does everything I've needed to so far. There are cheaper cables but some don't work on OBD I converted cars (found out the hard way).

TunerPro is free and does everything TunerCat does and more than LT1_Edit does

This is the application that edits a binary file taken from the car's PCM. Much like TunerCat it does you no good without a definition file that instructs the program where in the bin file the locations of switches, constants, and tables are.

So another google search turned up this: http://www.moates.net/fileman/index....neral%20Motors
note: The OBD1 LT1 flash PCM's use either the EE or (rarely) EEB definition files.

So, with the TunerPro program and the appropriate definition file you can edit a PCM's binary file.

The last hurdle to overcome is uploading and downloading the bin file from the PCM's ROM... these cars use EEPROMS. If you are adept at searching the internet you can find a tool to do just that. You can also buy the stand alone flash software from Tunercat for $19.95. Or you can ask around for a simple DOS based utility that does it

Then you can take all that money that you saved and invest it in a very important tuning tool, scanning software. I would recommend Datamaster (www.ttspowersystems.com). Though if you're still feeling cheap you can download free utilities that do this as well, just not nearly as good.

There, that should be just enough information to get yourself in trouble
