What's needed with Tunercat to program?

OK, I believe I'll get Tunercat and I know I need the LT1 def files, but will that allow me to download my current program from my computer, edit it, and reflash my computer, or will I need another module to do this? I have a good program in the computer already and don't want to lose it. I've changed my rear gear and want to get rid of AIR and EGR for now only. I'm taking it slow.

Currently I have the AKM cable and Freescan so I know my laptop can hook up and read the computer. I'm at least partly there right?

Tunercat and the EE/EEB definition file is all you need.

OK, thanks. I just confused myself reading about the TDF Editor and WinFlash then. What are those modules for?

Tunercat includes winflash. Winflash is for those who already have the files and want a tool to upload them.
TDF editor is for those who want to build/modify/add a definition file. Say for instance you're a hardcode PCM hacker and found something you can change that isn't listed in tunercat's options. You will use the TDF editor to add that option to the definition file. I'd say probably 95% of people don't need this.
