What is the signs of a dying computer

I have read about the computer going bad and causing problems. How can you verify this? Does the whole thing work incorrectly or just certain things? Can it appear to be working fine on almost everything but not on others? I have been chasing gremlins since i bought the car and i have Freescan and it appears it is fine but things like the knock retard are not showing to be working. I will check the sensor but its in a bad spot so it will be a few days.

Most of your problems are in bad connections or wiring. Also bad grounds cause a lot of probs. Your PCM is pretty robust.

Maybe the retard has been tuned out. Have you looked at the programming?

PCMs rarely go bad.
