What laptop?

I'm looking for a laptop to use for tunercat, etc. I'm looking to buy a used one. Is there anything particular that I should look for in a laptop i.e. certain ports, amount of memory, etc.

Also whats the best operating system to use??

Thanks,
Nick

Here's a cheap IBM with Windows NT.
It has a serial/comm port that all our stuff uses.

Here's one with Windows 98.

they usually go for 130.00-150.00 but I've seen one's nit sell for the 90.00 reserve

A 380 XD or a 380Z also have a usb port as well as the serial/comm port.
Or you could search for a 390 IBM.

A 390 series IBM may be your best bet.
Check them out on ebay.

Re: What laptop?

I purchased an IBM 600E after an old Dell I found didnt want to work worth a damn. I only paid $100 for the Dell and $150 for the IBM but the IBM is 100x nicer. Its plenty fast to run Tunercat and Datamaster and has never once lost connection with my PCM in over 50 flashes.

I wouldnt recommend anything less than an IBM. Also, Ebay is expensive for laptops for some reason so check out laptop message boards where ppl trade them like we do car parts on here. It really drives the prices down.
