What can/should I get changed in my programming

Hey guys, my car is mostly stock with the mods in the sig. I just replaced the OPTI and put some 1.6 RR (needed the comp ones for my '88 car). I have tunercat, but am having problems using it for the first time, plus I have never programmed before. I am considering getting pcmforless to do a "loadyourself" programm for me, as I can load it myself and its only $50, so I figure a good baseline.

This is what I would like to get done:
4.10 speedo correction
dissable CAGS
bump rev limiter 400 RPM
dissable speed limiter
PowerProgramming
dissable Knock Sensor
160 stat temp fan correction
EGR dissable (is this possible, I am going to remove the EGR)

What else can I do. I have no emmisions testing or anything like that, no catalytic converter and no air pump. Thanks a lot guys.

What kinds of problems are you having? Perhaps I can help or someone else can chime in as well.

Well, primarly I have to correct my speedo gear, would like to remove CAGS and top speed (and other stuff I mentioned). But, I get a fair amount of false knock. My motor is not quiet, it has non-self aligning rr with guideplates, plus the valvetrain has a small tick I can not get rid off. Its been there for over a year, does not get worse, and the car runs good. Its not a header leak nor a missadjusted rocker, I check and changed all those. I just changed the lifters on that bank, have not fired it up yet, but I doubt the tick will go away. SO, I need to dissable the knock sensor. I would also like to dissable the EGR as I am removing it as well. Thanks.

Igor thats all pretty easy to do, if you don't feel comfortable with it send me your BIN file and I will make the changes for you. As for KR its better to find the cause rather than bandaid it to work. That noise can be an indicator of something else worse to come.

Ok, how do I get my own bin file? I am waiting for tunercat to e-mail me back and send me the serial number and reg. number. They never did when I bought it a while ago. I would just like to dissable the KS just to see what the car drives like. Ultimatley, I want it on. I just changed the opti and some lifters, so in a couple of days I am going to see how it runs. But I want all knock retard out of it just out of curiousity.

The software is usually active for 30 days. Do you have the EE definition file? If not you will need that file in addition to the base TunerCat software. Also you need the cable in order to connect to the PCM via your ALDL link inside your car.

As long as you have the Base Tuner Cat software and the EE PCM definition file you can connect to your PCM and do a read then save the file (give it a name and save) then you can just email it to me.

I paid them $69.95 and $19.95. I have the software, but I think they didn't send me the info. I also have the $EE file, I am pretty sure. When I get home I'll e-mail it to you (well, what I have), I am at work now. Thanks a lot man.

P.S. I do have the cable and I tried freescan with my desktop at idle, it worked.

Igor, if you paid TC for the tools. I am sure he sent the registration code. However if for some unknown reason that it was omitted just email TC, he will get the information to you ASAP. He is very good about customer support, probably better than most.

I've tried, and the e-mail keeps bouncing. I tried at tc@tunercat.com
