All TC users, if your having any "incorrect message sent" errors when trying to read or program (losing your flash in the process), I suggest you solder all connections with the exception of the cable going into the laptop of course. I've had on and off incorrect message sent errors since I got TC. Originally, I took care of the problem by hard wiring the cable to the back of my ALDL connector which still lets me plug a cable into the front. A month ago, the problem came back. I've been through it all to find the problem too. Looking for bad grounds, different batteries, different laptops, different operating systems, laptom optimizing, different TC versions, Windows programming, DOS programming, basically, just about everything. The only time I would get it to start working half *** when it was having it's error fits was when I played with the connectors on the actual communication board on my AKM cable. I finally chopped off the connectors and hard soldered them to the board itself. Problem seems to be solved and TC actually reads and programs faster then it has in the past. Wonder if AKM would actually build your cable soldered directly to the board instead of putting connectors on it if you requested it that way. Much more reliable connection. Anyway, just my input and some of my own experience on that issue. Hope it helps someone.
