Tripometer resetting randomly
Tripometer resetting randomly
1) My tripometer has reset back to 0.0 by itself 3X within the last two weeks. The ODO seems to be fine though.
2) I have rich Bank 1/2 codes, and a bad pinging (detonation) at 5K+, related?
Thanks

Re: Tripometer resetting randomly
Earlier LS1's had a problem with the trip meter resetting in cold climates. I can only assume it was because of low system voltage. Check the battery and charging system.
If there is indeed an electrical problem I would get that solved first!
Once that's done though, how do you know you have a detonation problem? Can you hear it or are you looking at knock counts. If it's the latter you need to determine whether it's false or real. Put some very high octance fuel in the tank and see if it affects the knock problem.
The detonation and O2 sensor codes could very well be related but you'll need more information to troubleshoot. Are there other indications of the engine running rich such as visible smoke and/or smell? Pulling a sparkplug is something that too many people have forgotten how to do
How many miles on the (presumably) stock O2 sensors?
Could you possibly be getting too much oil through the PCV system as is a common problem with LS1's? This would promote detonation and contaminates O2 sensors (while also making a rich condition). Again, a sparkplug inspection could tell you a lot.
