TPI 165 $32 and $32b compatability
TPI 165 $32 and $32b compatability
I'm getting ready to burn a chip for an 88 TPI 350. just turning off some error code flags. In the past I've done several '747 TBI chips using a hex editor and the ECMGUY's PDF document. I downloaded the document for the '165 but after noticing that some of the addresses didnt match up, and looking on the tunercat definition files site I found out about the #32b chips.
Now I can download plenty of $32 .bins off the diy-efi site, can I use a $32 bin in an ECM that originally had the $32b? If it will work, is there any downside to doing that?

Once you burn the chip, the old calibration is gone. Most guys will upgrade from 32 or 32b to $6e, but you have to get rid of the cold start injector and tune it some. I don't know what changed between the 32 and 32b, but it shouldn't matter. The 165 ecm is still the same. I even thought of going to the 32b just because some of the fueling tables are not in $6e and are easier to adjust.
