think my pcm is shot

i went to upload a tune from lt1 edit and at 13 percent it froze. so i disconected, reconnected and turn key on and fans were on. it wont even establish a connection from the pcm anymore, disconected everything and started car and it dies after it starts with the fans staying on.

is it shot? can i have it repaired? or do i need a new pcm

Hate to say it, but it's a gonner. When tuning, the first thing thats done is it erases the flash chips, so if you lose it at any point after that before it completes, it's lost. It can be repaired. You have 2 options, get a new PCM, read 1st then try and reflash it (at risk of losing that one too if you dont know why your computer locked up) or send your current PCM off for repair and have to wait till it comes back. Check with Andrew with AKM cables. He repairs them and is a real good guy. He can socket your PCM so the chips are easily removable and reflashed if you lose it again. Try and figure out why you had the lock up though before you put another PCM in there. Sucks, but it comes with the territory...

i am pretty sure it has something to do with im using a usb akm cable and possibly problems with vista, i also had a weak battery that wont hold a charge because the car sits for 2 or 3 weeks and the battery is 7 years old.

ill probably send my pcm out to madz28 because he has fixed and programmed my pcm before

A low battery definitly isn't a good thing to have when programming.
