Scanned car the other day. . . Have a few questions

I scanned the computer in my car a few days ago and it all seemed ok except for a ENGINE MISFIRE & EGR MALFUNCTION. I noticed that it was starting to miss pretty bad here lately at high rpm's when the car is warmed up. This leads to my real questions, if I disassemble the EGR to clean it and get to to work properly without throwing a code will the misfire go away? Or should I just replace the OPTI-SPARK, wires and plugs. One more thing, should I block off the EGR or fix it. What are the pro's and con's to doing this? I don't have to worry about passing emissions tests because I live in Oklahoma. My car also has 99,000 miles on it. Thanks in advance.

Replace the plugs/wires. Remove and toss the EGR system. If your misfire doesn't go away, replace the Opti.
