Which scan tool to buy?

What's a good scan tool out there? I've seen several on the net, and heard of a couple on here. I have a '95 LT1 Camaro and want to be able to read and clear codes, and also monitor in real-time. Just got the car running again, and need to check a few things. Thanks in advance!

Check out the AutoXray 5000. It gives you OBDI and II capability. Includes the cable for the '95.

A laptop and software will also work.

Do yourself a favor and make sure it does 'CAN' bus, too. Future proof, for a little while anyhow.

Are you going to use a laptop? and how much do you want to spend? lol
I run a laptop with a mount from custom-mounts .com, it actually bolts to the passenger seat bolts, real easy to install. The tube was to tall for my taste so I cut i down to where the laptop sits just above the shifter. Now , that out of the way, if you want to be cheap, i used to use this software http://obddiagnostics.com/ScrnShot/Winscreen.html, the software is free but the obdII interface is 79.00, it has a sweet virtual dash board and you can monitor all types of system status as well as shut off check engine lights, good program for the money. Now I use Proscan http://www.myscantool.com/details.html its a bit more money about 160.00 dollars but it has a cool virtual 1/4 mile drag strip that you can use to test and tune with as well as monitor system info. The interface it comes with supports a lot more programs then the cheap one mentioned earlier, and there are some free ones you can download. Proscan does not come with a virtual dashboard so for that i use dashcommand http://www.palmerperformance.com/pro...mand/index.php
Its only 24.00 and you can create your own custom dash boards, here is a youtube link in my car of a dash that someone else made and I changed it to read T S R, (some folks I hang with) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcRgw...eature=related

Well I hope this helps you a little. Good luck
