I experinced everything that you have just written last year. The problem is that I have heads and cam done on the car (with cats) and it failed for being to rich. I had .08 hydrocarbons to thge allowable .06. This is why I needed to pass the test on computer alone. I can turn the misfire codes and tests back on, but when I bring it to the station for testing they shut the car down. By the time they restart it the computer has had a chance to verify that there is a misfire and it will set of the mil light. Is it ok to have the mil? The thing is I passed the computer test before I started the tunning. Is it possible to pass the computer test with the engine light on? If it is then I could just turn the Test and mil back on. I need a little clarification on what will or will not pass for the computer test.

I'm sure now that you failed the IM-240 dyno you will have to pass the dyno test .
They will not offer a OBD-II test again.
(next year all '96 & up's will have to pass OBD-II only)
I will be going there tomorrow as usual (2-3 times a week)& ask about it for you.
I have had '96 & up failures & had to deal with them in this manner.
If you show $ 450 spent toward emission related repairs done by a shop & the car shows an improvment in readings over the first test you can get a wavier.
I deal with these all the time , there not fun.

Okay .., they will now do the OBD test for the second & third tests, but will dyno after a OBD fail.
You can purchase a $20 voucher in office & it wont count against you.
Have you tried to turn the missfire codes into a type X DTC?
I know it can be done & it usually does the trick.
I dont get to go south of here to much , wont drive the car thru Oswego . I live just outside their grasp.
The cops are extreme @ss's & love writing tickets.
I'm one of those die b-4 front plate & remove window tint people, o-well.
Good luck with the mobile & the IEPA!
