Radar Detectors, City Vs Highway use.

Alright, i just got an amazing deal on a cobra 9870. apparently its not all that great for highway but how is it in the city?

I live in Manitoba so i need it to be totally undetectable or i get in taken away. it says its immune to vg2 and can detect spectre. im in alberta right now so i can test it out without worrying. but when i go home i want it to be good.

Im thinking about selling it and buying the Escort Passport 8500. it's the best one out their for highway, but how is it for city? and is it totally undectable as well?

i bought a $20 radar detector just incase i get caught i can give the cop the crappy one instead of my good one.

let me know if u know anything about these radar detectors or have any expierence with them.

I have a Passport 8500.

AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING.

This thing is my new best friend!!

I drove from Winnipeg to Calgary and it gave me a 1km warning before radar was coming. A couple RCMP had their radar guns off so they just watched me fly by and did nothing.

In the city it works equally well.

And yes its undetectable.

Very low false alarms except on Portage Ave by The Bay in Winnipeg after the stores close. Too many motion detectors in the area.

But you can tell its a false alarm.

i've been thinking about dissecting a cheapo and mounting the recievers in open areas in the front of the car.

Most of the radar is reflecting off the windshield.. not the interior of the car where the detector is.

I've got a Bearcat BCT-12 which picks up on police radio instead of radar. Its really handy for detecting HP.. but i don't speed much anymore so its not worth it to me anymore.
