Q@A time
In the past couple of months i have done several mods to my 99ss.The three mods that are giving me the most problems are.
1. My shift light dose not come on at the right rpm.
2. My battey relocation to the back went well, untill I try to start my car and the computer zero's out and my tach and speedo go crazy.
3. My gauges dont read right, I took them out to change the backing plate and the electric spool behind the plate some how got fubared and now Iam going 30mph and the speedo says Iam doing 80mph.
Shift ligth...... I installed the light the way I was told.Connect the one wire to the number 10 wire on the PCM. Then ground another wire and the last one find a 12 volt power source. The first two I know are right. The power source is another question. I have it to a 20 amp source on the side fuse box on the drivers door.It comes on when you start the car but went the tach gets up to and pasted 5000 it dos'ent light up.The pill right now is 5000 rmp for testing. Its driving me up a wall. If any of you have an answer let me know please.
The battery relocation..... From the back to the front. The box in the back with the pos cable running on the floor board threw the fire wall to the old connection, that the old battery had to connect to. The ground is to the frame in the back. I though that connecting the cable to these old connection would have been a good idea.I guess not.If you hve any feed back on this let me know. Thanks
The gauges....I was want them back to normal,if thats possible.

On the battery relocation:
I did mine a week ago with a setup very similar to the one you describe: Ground at the back and positive(2GA Welding cable) thru the firewall to the original battery connection. My problem was that sometimes the solenoid would not engage fully when trying to start and made a rattling noise. This happened one of every four starts. I solved it by routing a smaller cable (8GA) together with the main positive cable from the positive terminal of the battery to the positive junction box on the driver side where all the other circuits are wired to.
I dont know if the wiring of a '99 is similar to the '96, but if you have a positive junction box feeding the other circuits besides your starter motor, the same should apply.
