Programing question

I have a 94 4L60e which has no TCC-PWM solenoid and a 96 pcm that's looking for one and setting a MIL....P1860 code.
Will TunerCAT let me disable that function?
What I should ask is.. How do I fix this problem? What's the best way to go, without buying more than I really need.
It's just a stock DD. I would like to do my own diagnostics and repairs. Maybe a little tuning...most of all get rid of this DTC so I can get this car back on the road.
Thanks for the advice

You can adjust all the TCC settings, so probably just adjust where it'll never activate. You can also set any codes so they don't throw the check engine light.
Do the ohm meter test to see if the solenoid coil has opened (the trans I swapped into mine had). They're easy to change, just drop the pan and theres a bolt holding it into the valve body.

Do you mean the lock up solenoid?
What's throwing the code is the TCC and they're not in the 94.
The Perfomabuilt guy told me to just put the old solenoid in there to fool the PCM but I don't have it. Someone else said to just program it out. I like that answer and want to do that... If I can.
Thanks Mgyver

I guess my question is will Autotap do what I need, or do I need TunerCat or both or which? LOL I don't even know how to ask the right question.
Once you post these questions there's no turning back.
Everybody knows how dumb you are.....

Autotap is simply a scanner that can clear the code, but not turn it off. You need Tunercat (called Jet Dynamic Spectrum Tuner for a 96 PCM) to actually turn the code off and prevent it from setting the light again.

Jet DS Tuner is about $400.00. The PCM grounds pin 'U' on the tranny connector to pick PWM solenoid, the other side of the solenoid goes to +12V switched on pink wire pin 'E' in the connector. The PCM expects to see +12 V on pin 'U' when the PWM solenoid is NOT picked. Since you have no PWM the voltage on pin 'U' to PCM is floating and the DTC is thrown (no +12 v with solenoid deactivated). You could add a dummy solenoid and hang it outside the tranny or you can try adding a resistor in the harness between pins U and P. I would guess at 30-50 ohms at least 5 watts, it may get warm to touch so install it outside the harness where it won't heat up anything. You can get at the wires from the top near PCM, but you need a layout of your harness to verify which PCM pins to splice into.

I posted at drivetrain and Perfomabuilt suggested I replace the old harness and a dummie TCC to fool the PCM. So I got one from the salvage yard yesterday and put it in last night. Cost me $7.00 (Plus Filter and fluid)
Anyway... that problem is solved.

Thanks for the help. I was on my way to Radio Shack to hunt for resistors but decided that an old harness and solenoid was more of a sure bet.
Now I can look into tunning and scanning without feeling panicked about needing it right away. Still gotta have it, just not today.
Thanks again
