PLEASE HELP!! Keep getting code 16 yet not SES and runs FINE

OK I had an SES and bought and installed a ScanMaster. Got a code 16 opticrap. Car was dead and would NOT even start
Replaced the opti-spark and reset the computer by pulling the fuses and the code went away.
And car runs fine now.

But I got the code 16 on the ScanMaster. No SES and the car runs fine. So I reset the computer again, and no code. Eventually it came back. Again no SES and runs great.

I have yet to actually drive the thing around. Just running in the garage. Why am I getting this code yet no SES. And if it were a code 16 why does the car run fine?

PLEASE HELP!!

I don't have an aftermarket ignition box.

Would the car losing voltage cause the problem? Like when cranking and the starter lugs way down because the battery is so low.

I noticed that's when the ScanMaster display it, every time. When the starter bogs way down. I am currently charging the battery but nevertheless I still appreciate all those willing to help me out!!!!!!!!!

Low voltage can cause all kinds of sensor malfunctions. Only certain problems light the SES light but many other codes can be stored without the 'MIL' Malfunction Indicator Light illuminating. You should also check the wiring to the Opti from the PCM to make sure it's not shorting out somewhere.
