OBD2 - 1 swap without soldering PCM, and swapping KS?

... I tried putting the 3.9K resistor in line to pin 22 of the blue connector to simulate an OBDI knock sensor in the block. The car didn't start.

I want to get away from soldering INSIDE the PCM, and changing the knock sensor. Can I not put a resistor inline to the PCM wiring and have the OBD1 computer recognize it?

Right now a code is set on the OBD1 PCM.

Thanks in advance!

The engine should start regardless of the knock sensor status.

In the time you have spent modifying and fighting it, wouldn't have been easier to just replace the KS with a early OBD1 KS?
