Cool OBD-II and emission cheating

Ok I posted this on the lt1 help board, and got some mixed info. And they said this would be the best place to post on the subject.

Here in my part of Illinois, on the OBD-II cars, they dont put it on the sniffer, or do a visual inspection. Basicly they test the gas cap, look for tailpipes (dont go underneath), and plug into the PCM under the dash.

Well here comes the question. I ordered a set of Jet Hot LT's for my 97 Formula. And they were on backorder for the ones with Air and EGR hookups. Now some of the guys on the lt1 forum said they have heard that there is away to get around seting off errors that would cause you to fail emissions. Is this true? Can you still pass the OBD-II test, with out AIR and EGR?

Eitherway my appointment is set for next week with Speed Inc, and Im going to have them install them. I would just like to know if you guys have been able to do this.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

IM IN THE SAME BOAT BRO (HOOKER LT) .. IM IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING AUTOTAP FOR MINE AND ITS SUPPOSE TO TELL YOU READINESS OF EMISSION EQUIPMENT AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND ONLY A COUPLE THINGS HAVE TO BE RIGHT.. FOR EXAMPLE THEY WOULD NOT KNOW IF YOU HAVE EGR OR NOT WITHOUT LOOKING BECAUSE IT DON'T WORK AT IDLE OR WOT AND FOR US THE CAR IS AT IDLE WHEN CHECKED.. SO IF NO ONE REPLIES I'LL POST SOMETHING WHEN I GET MY AUTOTAP..

Same deal here in GA and we are allowed two ready warnings (because you may have reset the PCM/ disconnected battery etc). All my buddies and I run LTs and no emissions. Now, we do have friends in the business so no worries about the visual, which if you have you will fail. But a big smile and a $50 bill go a long way towards that problem. You turn off the AIR EGR with a program and (at least in LT1edit) you turn off the "does it set code" portion. No SES light, no fail.
