o2 problem ses at about 100 miles
o2 problem ses at about 100 miles
I bought the car used. This is not covered under warranty. After driving about 100 miles the ses light comes on. I got the lower right bank sensor replaced based on the error code. About 100 miles later it happened again. Same sensor. Thought, maybe it was a bad one. Changed again. 100 miles later, you guessed it, SES on again. I havent checked it yet, but I am pretty sure that I know what it is. The car does have a non stock exhaust system that I did not install. Any ideas of what could be causing the problem?
Thanks
EDIT: The exhaust I believe is from flowmaster. I may be changing this anyway.

did you clear the code? the code could be stored in the computer.
and this is the front sensor correct? or is it the rear...
what exactly is the code?
the catback would have no affect on the o2 sensors..

rear sensor is the one that checks for bad cats...so it probably isn't your sensor...
or a wire got burned or cut somehow...and the intermitant thing is because the rear o2s are only checked under certain conditions...i use to drive with no cats and sometimes would do a week of daily driving before the SES light would come on.

any idea of what conditions they are checked under? I haven't taken it over 90 yet and have only reached 90 once, yet guys, it will be on the track soon. It seems to me to occur under normal driving conditions. I do drive through some traffic in the DFW area, but I am not speeding over 80 since the first time went on.
Thanks for you help so far too.

Since you've already replaced the 02 sensor I'd call your local dealer about replacing your passenger side cat. Cats are covered under the federal emissions warranty for 8 yrs/80K. Do a search in this forum for "P0430" and "P0420" (Bank 1) before you call.
