Lt1edit/OBD2 conversion problem-->

Is there any reason why I can't get a scanner to read my ECM?

Using a OTC diag. scanner, I can't get this to read the computer. I've done the OBD2(97) to OBD1(95) conversion and changed the knock sensor to a OBD1 and i'm having a service engine light and until I get the laptop working, I'm trying to figure it out.

I bought the ECM, cable, and software about 2yrs ago from someone on the board and i'm just getting around to using it. The computer's married to the software already and has a tune in there from the person that i bought it from. We have nearly the same things done, if I can remember right, but i think the EGR and airpump are still programed into it. The EGR is still pluged in, but the airpump isn't. The car seems to run fine. Its not resitating or running rich and has good throttle response.

Well thats some of the history, but I can't think of why the scanner won't read the computer. Its saying that there isn't a communication or something to that effect.

Does having edit in there not allow for other programs to read into the computer to pull codes or check #'s??

I know the scanner is working because I pluged it into my 98 and read it without problems. Any ideas???

TIA

Alan

If the cable was used on an OBD1 car, then you need a different cable. One that is made for an OBD2 car but works with the OBD1 computer.
