LT1 edit question
You'd be better off getting Tunercat. It's much cheaper, just as easy to use, and it isn't VIN locked. Meaning you can use it on any number of OBD1 PCMs you want. If you have OBDII, then you can't use Tunercat yet. Go to www.tunercat.com to get all the stuff you need. It has a trial of 30 days, then you need to buy it but it's only about $100 for the program and EE definition file. And you need a cable, which is about $100. Go to http://www.akmcables.com/ to get the cable. Or, you can spend 2-3 times as much for the same program that doesn't do as much (LT1Edit).
A crappy one will do. Just make sure it doesn't have any booting problems or errors. Otherwise, you might end up in the middle of a programming frying the PCM. Which is annoying, because then you need to either reprogram the flash chip (which requires desoldering and reflashing the chip) or getting a new PCM and reprogramming it. Happened to me, thanks to my crappy laptop. I'm fixing it, however. It's an old 120 Mhz Pentium, certainly nothing fancy.
i visited www.tunercat.com and i didnt know which one to download, any guideline??
You need the program called Tuner found here.
http://www.tunercat.com/software/tuner/tnr_setup.zip
You will also need a ECM definition file. They can be found here. http://www.tunercat.com/tnr_desc/do_tc.html
You will need to email TunerCat to get the correct ECM definition file sent to you.
