LT1 Edit open loop program ...a couple questions

Just thought I would throw this up here and see what I get from it . While the part throttle programming for my car is about dead on , at WOT my car is really rich . I have been trying to tune the car at the strip , but all the changes Im making the car is just getting richer . I want to make sure the areas Im tuning in are where I need to be . At first since with the base program the car was pretty rich ( 950-1000 mV all the way down ) . I figured I would try to lean it out with PE table and leave the VE tables alone . I got down to where the PE table was 0'ed out completely and from 6K to 6800 I was actually going into negative values . Doing that , there was no changes in the way the car ran . 02's were still .950-1000 mV . Then I figured I need to go into the VE tables . I was tuning between 90-100 kpa . The more I subtracted off the value in the VE tables the richer the car got going down the track . 02 mV's are now 1050-1100 area , blowing black smoke all the way down the track . Since that day , I blew up the transmission and got cut short trying to tune this thing and decided to call it a year.

In an open loop program :

-do the PE tables have any effect on WOT ?

-Am I right by subtracting values in the VE tables to lean the car
out ? A friend of mine told me that he thinks the values
represented in the VE tables are telling the PCM how efficient
the engine is , he wasnt 100% sure though . If that is true
I assume I should be adding to the values to tell the PCM
the engine is more effiecient so It would add less fuel .....
....yeah , nay ?

I did not have the opportunity to play with injector size before my tranny ate itself . I know I probably coulda made progress there , well @ WOT anyway . That surely woulda threw off my GOOD part throttle tuning . I still have stock 24 lb/hr injectors , so I know as fact with my heads cam combo I surely dont have too much injector .

It would be very cool if someone could clear up the questions I have

a1. yes, the PE tables are used in open loop (I run an OL program). If you've got your part throttle stuff set up, you should only need to change the PE/RPM table.

a2. yes, that would work, (assuming you changed the correct area) but only in speed density mode. Does your car have a MAF? If so, the VE tables are not used.

BTW, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the factory O2 sensors. Also, dyno tuning is critical to figuring out how much fuel the engine likes at a particular RPM, my PE/RPM table ranges from +16 around 4000 to -15 around 6500.
