Just bought tunercat and an older laptop that has both serial and USB ports on it. Anyone have any issues with the AKM USB cable? If the USB cables have issues I will go with a serial cable, but I figure for future use I may want to stick with USB. Any reason to go one way or the other?

Serial always works
USB does not always work

Serial is a core process
USB+Serial is ready for failure at any point since it's Serial with a bunch of USB garbage on top of it.

If you have a serial port, use it.
If you have no serial port, you try a USB serial adapter.

If you do get a usb cable I recommend the one from moates.net. Mine has been through an absolute ton of usage and has not cause me a problem yet.

USB cables need to have the FTDI chip within them. USB cables on the market are not simply usb adapters with serial circuits inside one box. DO NOT use a USB adapter with a PL2303 hhip in it. It uses different communication protocol and may interupt the comm process and fry your PCM chips.
