I've tried everything! PCM: Invalid response!!!

I keep getting "invalid response from pcm" no matter what I do. Here's what I've done to cancel out problems.

My laptop, my car, my pcm, my cable = invalid response from pcm
my laptop, friends car, my pcm, his cable = invalid response from pcm
my desktop, my car, my pcm, my cable = invalid response from pcm
my laptop, his car, his pcm, his cable = invalid response from pcm

What could be causing this?

What are you using for software? Sorta sounds like you have an software issue as you always used your PCs and you used his cable once. Does his laptop and his cable work on your car? Or you got a PCM problem. Does your PCM run in his car?

Try moates.net.. They build a really nice USB cable that WILL work.

The ALDLCable.com cable should work though, try contacting Bob directly at...sales@aldlcable.com

From moates.net I need these two items right?

CABL1 OBD1-Style ALDL Connector
ALDU1 USB-to-ALDL Converter

Re: I've tried everything! PCM: Invalid response!!!

I received a couple of cables from ALDLCable.com today (VERY fast shipping by the way!) and I did some thorough testing on the 95 version and it works FLAWLESSLY. I will test the 94 one during the weekend, but I don't see why it shouldn't work. So I was wrong in the first post and you may have had some other issues.

Re: I've tried everything! PCM: Invalid response!!!

It cant be, like i said in the first post, its not my laptop, I used my desktop and same error. Its not my pcm, same error on my friends pcm. It's not my car, put my pcm in friends car. It all comes down to the cable. I don't see how these cables work, I've done all my own testing, even with a OBD2 style cable, my pcm, in my friends car with my laptop, exact same error.

Definatly, I charge my phone on it everyday.

The OBD2 style cable doesnt require power from the cig lighter, and His gave me the same error.

No idea then. I received the exact same product as pictured on the website and it works great for datalogging/reading tuning/writing tuning.

How did you test the OBD1 cable?

I didn't test the 94 cable yet. The 95 I tested on my bench harness, so I know it will also work fine in a 95 car. I will test the 94 cable on my car this weekend.

The only other cable i've tested is my friends, which he bought his OBD2 cable from ALDLcables.com as well. Same error. He sent his back to ALDLcables, for a refund, and bought a cable off andrew. I'll test with it asap.
