Injector #8 stays open.........................
Injector #8 stays open.........................
Damn! Yesterday I hydra-locked my motor. It was obvious that it was from a fuel injector sticking open. I figured that I had some debris stuck in it, holding it open. Being pissed because nothing can go right with this damn car lately, plus it was hot outside, I just went back inside and slacked off all day.
Today, I pulled the fuel rails off the intake, disconnected the injector clips, turned on the DFI (which turns on the fuel pump).........I've got fuel pressure..........but no fuel comming from any of the injectors.
I turned the DFI back off, hooked the injector clips back up, turned the DFI back on, and wha-da-ya know....................Injector #8 is spraying fuel, non-stop!
DAMN! I can't call DFI till tomorrow. OK DFI experts........is my DFI PCM toast?

Re: Injector #8 stays open.........................
The injector WILL NOT fire (open) if the harness IS NOT hooked up. I'm certain that nothing is wrong with the injector. I placed the #8 injector clip on other injectors, and they stick open as well.
When I was refering to the "injector clips" in my first post, I was refering to the portion of the wiring harness that attaches to the injectors.
I'll bet money that the #8 injector driver in the PCM is toast. I read somewhere that Accel uses cheap injector drivers in their DFI PCM's. I didn't beleive it, but now I do. I've only been running this set up for about 11 months, but I've had it for over 2 years, so it's out of warranty.
Bad thing is, this is my daily driver.

Re: Injector #8 stays open.........................
At least on my lt1 the computer only regulates the ground to the injector. Use a meter to check continuity to ground on that injector. Mine stuck open without the plug hooked to it and hydrolocked the motor so i know how you feel. Did you put an lt1 in a 68. If so i would like to see some pics. I stuck one in my 81 trans am and will post some pics this week. Good luck on your injector problem.

I pulled the PCM apart today, and all of the injector drivers looked fine.
No stinky burnt electronic smell, or anything. No bubbly, porous solder joints from an over heated component.
Everything looked fine. Then I figured to check the wiring harness, and sure enough, a group of wires had come out of the flex loom tubing, and were rubbed up against the hole in the fire wall.
Next time before I flip out, (and think about swapping to a carburated big block with a bunch of nitrous
) I'll chill out, and check the obvious stuff.
