Iffy about friend tuning

Hey guys, just got my TransAm the day before yesterday.. My friend is all excited about hooking it up to LS1 edit.. he says he has the program and everything and wants to hook it up to my car.. What I am wondering is how bad could he mess things up?? He is saying he can change all kinds of stuff, like how the car shifts, the air/fuel map, and ect.. He is my friend and I appreciate what he is trying to do for me but would it be advised to let a novice just play around with my car like that?? or is this program so easy a monkey could work with it?? Thanks for any advice you might have....
Oh and just incase it matters, I got a Magnaflow exhaust, whisper lip, 160 stat, and all the free mods I could come up with on this site, I cut the EGR pipe at the intake, cut the bottom out of the airbox, and took out the MAF screen.. anything else I can tinker with for little to nothing??

I don't know squat about the LS1 and tuning. But if your friend can save the original computer program to disc and you can upload your original program back if anything messes up, then you should be cool. Make sure LS1 edit can read your computer first. Those are a couple of my tips, I am sure others can help more. Remeber its your car.

I agree with Zman, if he can read and save the original program, you will probably be ok. Although, if he has no idea what he is doing, he could cause damage to the engine. I would ask him alot of questions about the timing and fuel tables, to find out if he knows what he is doing.

Ditto.

Ideally you'd like to be on a dyno to make lots of the changes anyway, or at least have a wideband O2 sensor. So potential gain... probably not very much. Especially if he isn't framiliar with LS1 tuning. Without a dyno or O2, it takes an experienced tuner to just sit down and add timing and fuel at the right places.

Ok.. so the main thing I need to watch for is that he leaves my air/fuel alone for now.. at least until I get some decent mods and then I can have madz28 do my tune for me.. He cant mess up anything else?? The only other thing I was worried about is the shifting thing.. I dont know if he is wanting to change my shift points, or if thats even possible.. but I know he said he could increase line pressure to make it shift harder, which I do want.. Barking into 2nd would just be peachy with me..
