I need of tunning for my 383

I need some one in the TN area or within 300miles that could tune my car. I live in the 37148 zip code. I need help the car is running like crap and I can not find out why. I has a little base tune on it. The car runs fine but when it warms up it does not want to idel and runs like crap. Please let me know if there is a place I can take it to. Or someone that wants to make some money that is good at tunning LT1 cars.
Thanks
Cliff

Re: I need of tunning for my 383

Anyone?

The problem happens after the car warms up to about 120 deg the IAC is around 40-50 and when the engine warms up the IAC Jumps to 160 and the car surges and does not want to idel and has up to 15 deg knock retard.
Please help if you can

I have a data master file I can send if that may help out any. I need some help Ive had this problem for over six months. and all I have done is throw parts at the problem that I dont need and still cant fix it.

I still have hair but wont long if I cant get this fixed.

I had the same problem when i finished the rebuild on my 383 stroker. You should check your PCV valve and line, and bend the TB stop a bit so that iac goes back down to about normal levels. I had lots of problems when the PCV was plugged (i got rid of my LT4 covers during the rebuild) and buying new valvecovers and pcv elbow/hose solved my problem.

Cliff, I'd happily help any way I can. You have a way to trailer the car up here, since I'd assume it would be HORRENDOUS on gas...

I'm no whiz on them, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Re: I need of tunning for my 383

well since its an OBD1, most of the tuning is done through the spark and MAF tables. Ive noticed that VE tables dont do much for OBD1 cars if anything. The computer uses the MAP sensor mainly for BLMs and double checking the MAF. If all your sensors are working correctly and there is no hardware problems, then I would say:

start with an LT4KM
mess with the spark maps until it starts to pull timing
find a wideband and mess with WOT tuning through the %change AFR @ WOT vs RPM table to fine tune the WOT.

Remember, WOT tuning is EASY compared to VE table tuning. If you want the best tune possible, it will be through a stock (not even descreened) MAF or even in SD mode, because VE tables are very consistent, but take ALOT of trial and error. (VEmaster also works great).

For the quick easy answer, get a stock MAF and have someone mess with your spark timing and then WOT.

Sorry for the long post,
Stu

Re: I need of tunning for my 383

Just about all the sensors are new. I did just put on a new ZO6 MAF sensor that was recalibrated for the LT1. I do know at 1100 rmpsmy o2 sensors are at 800-1000 at idel So that may be the problem with the IAC sensor. I real need to have the car looked at it couuld be possable that it is more than a tune that it needs.

The car also seems to run a little beeter after leting it run for about 30 min. The car has sat all winter so there is a lot of built up condensation in the motor. I am going to change the oil and spark plugs agian. And see if it helps out any more. But it really needs a tune though.

Not saying that the MAF IS your problem, but I doubt that it helping the tuning any. I would try and throw a stocker on it and see how it responds.
