hypertech programmer
Does anyone have any good info on the hypertech? I am looking to get one for my '02 Z-vert A4, and want to know if it is worth the $400. I am having the guys from Thunder Racing tune my car with it, and I am looking for some performance gains, as well as hopefully smoothing out some of the dead spots in the shift points. Any advice? Thanks!
Re: hypertech programmer
Hypertech is probably the least favorite tuning option on this board. With the 400.00 you will spend on the handheld, and however much more for the thunderracing tech. to tune your vehicle, you just easily paid the cost of a really good mail-order tune or even a dyno tune for that matter.

OK. I've done the search and the majority feels that hypercrap is just that. i'm taking in the Z to Thunder to get the lid and catback done, and I was going to get the programmer at the same time. I don't want to do the tune myself, so what should have them do about the tune? Screw it and just swap out the gears and get a stall convert? I dont want to go that far yet, so that's why I was thinking of getting the PCM done. My 2.73's suck, and it's an A4. Any suggestions?

If you swap the gears, then a tune will be a must for the speedo to be correct. What you should do depends on your budget and goals. If it's in your budget, drop the car at Thunder and have them do all the mods you previously mentioned and have them dyno tune. You will be
.
