How much timing is too much (with no KR)

Not too sure if this should be in the LT1 tech section or not... sorry if it should.

I'm in the process of tuning my car. Before I started I had a modest tune for my mods that was pretty good. I got the dyno numbers in my sig running a max of 32* at 4000+ rpms and some random knock retard... which turned out to be fuel related.

After a bunch of playing around with fuel and timing I have emliminated all knock retard and have been increasing my timing as much as I can. I currently have 42* advance at 5000~6400 with no knock. Is this too much? After reading some posts I see that most people don't have thier timing that high and others have knock issues with timing above 32*.

So my question is, is 42* timing in the 5000+ RPM area good if it can handle it? Also, if it can take some more timing will it help? Is there a point where more timing (with out knock) will hurt power?

My motor runs very strong up top and show no signs of any problems... There is a noticable "seat of the pants" increase in power come 5000rpm that just keeps going to 6400. I just want to make sure I don't kill the motor going over board with timing
