I have been trying to adjust my A4 for awile now, but it is confusing!! There are so many tables that appear to do the same thing. I am trying to figure out how to ajust WOT shift points, in Normal and Performance mode. Does the Car shift from the "Kick Down Up/Down Shift Points" Table or the "Kickdown Shift RPM Thresholds" or the "Normal Up/down Shift Points - Performance Up/Down Shift Points" at the 100% TPS. If the car uses the "Normal UP/Down Shift Points - Performance Up/Down Shift Points" at 100% TPS than What does the other 2 tables do? If any knows exactly how these tables work let me know! Thanks in advance!!!

In the ECM Constants table you'll see the Kickdown mode enable and disable %TPS. So Kickdown modes only get used at around WOT. Kind of makes the other 100% TPS tables useless (normal and the others).
Normal Mode Up/Down is used for regular driving (unless you have the performance shift setup) and WOT uses Kickdown modes. Manual mode is only used when you have it in 3rd or 2nd (not OD).
Out of all the Kickdown modes I would say Normal is used (hot and cold have special uses). There are really only a few settings in Kickdown, max mph and max rpm. I have my upper tps settings of Normal mode shift points set to the same as the Kickdown shift points.
Now Kickdown RPM shift points was where I though you were going to straighten up.
What I need is the correct rpm for say 2nd at 70mph. Although if these two are not the same (maybe tires are spinning and its not 70, its only 35) it shifts accourding to rpm.

Hal- Thanks for the responce. But now I am really confused. I understand that the WOT is set by Kick Down Up/Down Shift Points. But what is Kickdown Shift RPM Thresholds? Besides that I didn't understand anything eles you said. Can you explain it useing the exact names of the tables and what they do? The Table names are so close to each other, I get them confused. I listed all the names of the tables in the orginal post. What is the 3 and 2 manual mode stuff? Sorry for all the confusion.

What program are you using to program your PCM?? It could be the reason it is clear as mud is because they are telling you how to use LT1 Edit instead of TunerCat or vice versa.
Let us know your program and we can make it a little more clear.

Imagine your in Drive and your tires are spinning and you are NOT moving but your about to hit the RPM shift point for that gear. It will shift at the rpm its set to regardless of mph to keep the tranny from getting ruined. Thats what the rpm shift points are for.
Manual modes- Just because your shifting the tranny with the shifter doesn't mean it will do what you want. LIke having the tranny in 2nd at 10 mph and change it to 3rd will not cause it to shift to 3rd (because its probably below the shift mph or rpm).
Now downshifting in manual mode with it I'm not sure and never had reason to attempt a downshift that would cause the tranny to over rev in that gear. But, I imagine those settings are there to not to allow it.
One thing I must admit is confusing is everything is called Kickdown, even upshifts. That must just be the technical nomenclature for shift points/pressures used during hard throttle (of course you could set kickdown to start at 0%tps but lets not go there).
Thats as much as I write about anything.

So if my "Kickdown Shift RPM Tresholds" are 1->2 5500.0 and 2->3 5500.0 and 3->4 5250.0, than that is what my car will shift at WOT? If so What does the "Kick Down Up/Down Shift Points" table do? Even if my tires are spinning the Speedo reads what the tires are spinning at. What the Help file said is that the "Kickdown Shift RPM Thresholds" Table is Min Rpm for the car to Shift at in WOT- That is why I am confused.
